For those who are familiar with Steem and the majority of frond end apps built on the Steem blockchain, most will know that many ‘Steemians’ have been voicing different opinions about what is referred to as “User Reputations” or “User Reps”!
Even though the current system in place functions it of course can never satisfy everyone, such is life.
During the course of 2018 a team of Steemians took up the challenge of writing up a stand alone code which calculates the “User Rep” using a different set of parameters and which was well accepted by many Steemians. In fact it was so well accepted by the vast majority, no matter who was and wasn’t satisfied that we saw pages of positive comments with nothing but absolutely constructive and proactive reactions to this effort.
The great thing about it all is that recently the creators of this new formula for calculating ‘User Reps’ announced that they shall be pronouncing their code as ‘Open Source’.

& with the added extras, WOW!
Hence this news has definitely put a lot of great big smiles on peoples faces.
